Why Did Hockey Canada Mess Up So Badly?

When media outlets vote on the Canadian news story of the year in two months from now, the Hockey Canada saga might make the top of the list.
It didn't have to be this way. If Hockey Canada had played its cards differently, the story might be a distant memory by now, but it appears it will get worse before it gets better.
To discuss the issue, and especially the PR response from Hockey Canada, I was part of a podcast late last week that includes a ton of fascinating comments on the situation, crisis communications, board governance and more.
The Failure of Hockey Canada
Last Friday afternoon, I was honoured to be part of a podcast with media and crisis communicators from Canada and the US to talk about the Hockey Canada mess.
I’ve been a guest on the Reputation Town podcast before, but this time I was part of a group discussion that brought together some people who really know their stuff.
Reputation Town is a podcast done by Warren Weeks and John Perenack of Toronto.
Joining us on the panel were Shawna Bruce, who’s also from the Edmonton area and Molly McPherson of the US.
The podcast runs just a little over 50-minutes and I think you’ll find it fascinating.
